SURF AND SUP RENTAL

On the Northwest Coast, a wetsuit is essential before you hit the waves—and we’ve got you covered for that and more! Thanks to our partnerships with local surf schools, you’ll get the best deals on boards, wetsuits, and surf lessons. Adventure by Land

Tofino borders the vast Pacific Rim National Park, home to ancient rainforests and deep cultural heritage connected to the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, who have lived here for over 5,000 years.

• Storm Watching: Cozy up and watch as powerful winter storms sweep across Clayoquot Sound. There’s something mesmerizing about watching the waves and rain from the warmth of the indoors.
• Nearby Ucluelet: Just a 40-minute drive from Tofino, Ucluelet offers fantastic restaurants, shops, and the scenic Amphitrite Point Lighthouse trail overlooking Barkley Sound.  Now also connected to Tofino by multi-use bike path!
• Beach Walks & Trails: Enjoy endless beach walks along Tofino’s stunning coastline or explore great trails like Radar Hill, Tonquin Trail, and the Lone Cone hike, offering incredible views of the surrounding islands and waters.

Adventure by Water

Tofino’s coastal life is all about the refreshing sea air and the sound of waves. Whether you’re surfing or paddleboarding, get ready to suit up (yes, the water’s cool, but it’s worth it). The area is home to several popular surf beaches, with sandy-bottom spots perfect for beginners at Middle Beach, McKenzie Beach, North and South Chesterman Beaches, Cox Bay and Long Beach.

Explore these water-based activities available through our Adventure Centre:

• Whale Watching: Between March and October, the gray whale migration brings over 20,000 whales to the area. Set out by Zodiac, fully outfitted in warm gear, to experience this awe-inspiring sight.
• Canoeing and Kayaking: Explore old-growth forests, deserted beaches, and cultural sites on guided canoe and kayak tours—no experience required, just a sense of adventure.
• Black Bear Tours: Admire Tofino’s resident black bears from the safety of a boat at low tide, with opportunities to spot eagles, seals, and other wildlife.
• Hot Springs Cove: Follow the boardwalk trail through Maquinna Marine Park’s old-growth forest to natural hot springs—a seasonal favorite, usually open about eight months each year.
